Are you bored with the monotony of work, household chores, and taking care of kids? Don’t feel guilty for saying yes. We all need a break from the daily routine of our lives. We all need a little excitement and a bit of adventure.

Play is often the last thing we make time for when in fact, in should be one of the first.

Ferris Bueller told Cameron “you’re not dying , you just can’t think of anything good to do.” I sometimes feel the same way, when I can’t think of anything fun to do in the moment on the rare occasions I have a free afternoon or weekend. There are plenty of “fun things to do lists” out on the internet but I thought I’d add my two cents with a list of 88 cool and fun things to do to as reminders to get in enough play time for yourself:

  1. Ride a roller coaster
  2. Spend a day at the beach
  3. Host an adult games night
  4. Break the rules
  5. Invent a new gadget
  6. Make your own signature drink
  7. Sing in the shower
  8. Get ice cream from the ice cream truck even when your kids aren’t around
  9. Watch animated movies with or without the kids
  10. Fly a kite
  11. Eat dessert for dinner
  12. Hang out at an arcade
  13. Make your own pizza
  14. Sneak into a second movie
  15. Eat a banana split
  16. Go to a local carnival
  17. Dress up for Halloween
  18. Finger paint
  19. Play with play doh
  20. Host Taco night
  21. Skinny dip
  22. Go on a picnic
  23. Skydive
  24. Take a salsa or tango class (or any dance class)
  25. Jump in rain puddles (with your rain boots of course)

This list could go on and on but you get the idea. Your job is to find time to have fun doing those things you love to do whenever possible. Enlist your kids or some friends and get out and play! You deserve it! And most importantly you need it!
